This SG Report is the first formal, comprehensive articulation of the new concept for the management of best practices and official guidance in the UN peace operations system. It describes the services that Best Practices Officers provide to missions, as well as the systems that connect peacekeepers across missions and the processes that help to ensure that lessons learned and best practices identified in the field are reflected in departmental policies and procedures. It also describes how best practices information has been used in mission planning, as well as efficiency gains made as a result of knowledge capture and sharing |
